Penetrant UV inspection
Penetrant testing is a method of non-destructive material testing. Material defects can be exposed on the surface by the penetration process, e.g. cracks can be detected in this way. These defects can be detected with a indicating material called penetrating liquid. There is an effective form of crack detection when the penetrant has fluorescent properties. In the fluorescent penetration process – using UV light – yellowish-green markings indicate a defect. Different UV light sources are available to optimize detection in a darkened or nerarly dark environment. The LED light sources provide 365nm wavelength stable radiation in accordance with NDT requirements.
